Providing waste management services for the IOW Festival

TJ Waste has won a contract to provide waste management services for this year’s IOW Festival – one of the UK’s premier music festivals – which is taking place at Seaclose Park in Newport from 20-23 June 2024.

We will be supplying a range of eurobins and containers to accommodate all the waste generated throughout the four-day event. We’ll also be providing an on-site management and supervision service as well as refuse collection vehicles.

The bins will be strategically placed throughout the site to ensure that as much litter as possible is binned immediately. The larger containers will be located in one or more locations for the bins to be emptied into to ensure they always have capacity.

Our team of staff will be on-site throughout the event to ensure the bins are being emptied regularly and to manage our refuse collection vehicles in transferring the waste away from the site.

We’ll deliver the bins and containers in the week leading up to the event to ensure that they’re in place and ready well ahead of time. We’ll then remove all the bins and containers the day after the event to contribute to an efficient clear-up operation.

We’re dedicated to diverting as much waste as possible from landfill and process all waste in line with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocol. WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable, resource-efficient economy by re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products, re-thinking how we use and consume products, and re-defining what is possible through reuse and recycling.

The IOW Festival was established in 1968 and ran for three years until 1970. It was then revived in 2002, and since then it has been held annually in June, attracting major artists and large audiences, and regaining its status as one of the premier music festivals in the UK.

Highlights from this year’s line-up include The Prodigy, The Streets and Crowded House on the Friday, the Pet Shop Boys, Keane and Jessie J on the Saturday, and Green Day, Simple Minds and Zara Larsson on the Sunday.

TJ Waste’s Commercial Director Luke Haskell said: “We’re thrilled to have won the contract to supply waste management services for this iconic event! It’s the first year that we’ve been directly involved, and we’re pleased to be part of it. We always prioritise customer service in all we do, and we’ll showcase this by going above and beyond to deliver an exceptional service, which is sure to contribute to the smooth running of the Festival.”
