TJ adds fridge disposal to their service offering

We’re pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a fridge disposal service to commercial clients at our Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in Portsmouth, Southampton and Yapton.

Fridges containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFC gases) are classed as hazardous waste and it can be difficult to identify places that are able to dispose of them for you, which unfortunately means they are often fly-tipped or disposed of incorrectly. However, this is now something that TJ is able to offer commercial clients as part of their waste disposal services.

Companies – many of which will be FM companies, local authority contractors and property clearance companies – are invited to bring any old and unwanted fridges to one of TJ’s MRFs for quick and easy disposal.

Any company opting to use this service will simply require a waste carrier’s licence and a completed hazardous waste consignment note – per load – which can be downloaded from the .gov.uk website.

Both TJ account holders and non account holders are welcome to dispose of fridges at our sites; those without an account will simply be asked to pay at point of drop off.

All fridges received will be sent for onward recycling: TJ has an established partnership with an accredited company that responsibly handles, dismantles and categorises the fridge parts so that each element can be safely recycled or disposed of.

TJ is happy to accept one fridge or many fridges per transit, so whatever number your company has to dispose of, TJ will be more than happy to deal with your request.

Pricing for fridge disposal is as follows: (at the time of posting)

Domestic fridge/freezer (EWC 20 01 23): £47.50 + VAT per unit

Domestic ammonia fridge/freezer: £POA

Commercial upright fridge/freezer (EWC 20 01 23): £132.00 + VAT per unit

Commercial vending/display chiller (EWC 20 01 23): £POA

Please get in touch if you have any questions or if you’re interested in setting up an account with TJ. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our MRFs soon!
