TJ AWARDED VICTORIOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT

TJ Waste has been awarded the waste management contract for the upcoming Victorious Festival, which is set to take place on Southsea Common from 27-29 August. This is the fifth year that TJ has won the contract, which is a testament to the high level of customer service TJ provides.

The festival houses four stage arenas, each housing live music throughout the day and evening. There is also a kids’ arena, a world music village, a beats and swing tent, a comedy tent and even a circus!

There is also an offsite campsite at Farlington Fields for those attending the whole weekend. TJ will be responsible for the waste management on the campsite, providing wheelie bins for general waste and recyclables for campers to use. TJ will also play an integral part in clearing the site at the end of the festival, ensuring all refuse is collected and that the bins are removed within 24 hours of the site being vacated.

TJ will be supplying around 300 wheelie bins for use across the entire festival site. TJ will deliver the bins in the week leading up to the start of the festival to ensure all the bins are in place ready for kick-off on Friday. At what might be considered unsociable hours on Saturday and Sunday, a team from TJ will go onsite to empty all the bins in preparation for the day’s festivities. A team will be onsite on each of the three days to continually empty the bins to ensure cleanliness and efficiency.

TJ are providing a number of HGVs to transport and empty the wheelie bins and collect recycling which is segregated on site. All the waste will be taken back to TJ’s Portsmouth-based materials recovery facilities and sorted to ensure that all unsegregated recyclables are extracted and recycled.

TJ’s General Manager Luke Haskell said:

“The festival didn’t take place in 2020 due to the pandemic so we’re pleased that it’s able to go ahead this year and that we’ll be resuming our waste management service for the fifth time in full capacity. We have to tender for the work each year and our organised approach, past successes and competitive prices secured the contract for us again. It’s a local event with unrivalled notoriety and I’m proud that TJ continues to be involved. We will, as always, do all we can to ensure an exceptional service is delivered from start to finish.”

This year’s Victorious line-up includes Madness, The Kooks and Feeder on Friday; The Streets, Richard Ashcroft, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and The Fratellis on Saturday; and Royal Blood, Supergrass, Clean Bandit and Cast on Sunday.
