TJ partners with Goodyear to improve tyre safety

TJ Transport has agreed a five-year partnership with Goodyear’s Total Mobility Package, which will give them peace of mind when it comes to tyre safety on their entire fleet of vehicles.

Goodyear Proactive Solutions is part of Goodyear Total Mobility, and it will be used on TJ Transport’s whole fleet. Goodyear Proactive Solutions is a mobility solution that continuously monitors tyre pressures and temperatures, alerting fleet managers to required maintenance and potential hazards ahead of time.

TruckForce will also be on hand to support the fleet with emergency call outs and everyday proactive maintenance. Truckforce is a 24/7 commercial vehicle support network specialising in the lifecycle management of truck tyres. They have 13 hubs situated around the UK; TJ’s main hub will be Southampton.

Goodyear Total Mobility also includes support from ServiceLine24h roadside assistance and FleetOnlineSolutions – Goodyear’s internet-based fleet management system.

TJ’s fleet will be supplied with the Goodyear OMNITRAC S D MSTII. This tyre is part of a new heavy-duty range for mixed service trucks operating under severe conditions. The new and improved range offers upgraded durability, efficiency, mileage and traction in all weather conditions.

The vehicles will benefit from DuraShield tyre technology, a top belt layer that provides extra resistance against casing damage caused by potholes and sharp stones, for example. The tyres also bear the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) marking, which establishes their performance and compliance with winter regulations.

These features, particularly the heavy duty qualities and DuraSheild tyre technology should prove particularly valuable to TJ, whose vehicles carry heavy loads and are constantly in and out of construction sites and quarries, where the surface may not be smooth and stones are likely to be on the surface and pose a threat to tyres.

The OMNITRAC S D MSTII tyre is also integrated with radio-frequency identification (RFID). The RFID tag is embedded inside the tyre to allow simple identification and connectivity to tyre management and tracking systems. It enables the tyre to communicate with a cloud-system, resulting in efficient tyre flow management.

TJ has well over 100 vehicles in their fleet. They undergo regular maintenance to ensure safety and all vehicles are replaced or renewed after five years to provide efficiency. TJ’s vehicle types include articulated vehicles, rigid tipper lorries, grab lorries, roll-on-roll-off lorries, skip lorries and 7.5 tonne box vans.

Lee Downer, Fleet Manager at TJ Transport said: “It’s vital that our fleet is supported by a reliable and proactive solution to ensure our vehicles can achieve maximum capacity in the available working hours. I am confident that the services and products provided by Goodyear, with their various advancements in tyre technology, will ease the efficient and safe delivery of our products to the construction and building materials industry.”
