TJ Waste secure £7.2m contract with Southampton City Council

Southampton City Council (SCC) have awarded a £7.2m contract to TJ Waste & Recycling (TJ) to provide commercial waste disposal services.

The three-year contract will see the commercial services arm of SCC which provides waste management services to local businesses dispose of waste at TJ’s state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in central Southampton.

SCC is responsible for collecting up to 20,000 tonnes of waste annually from businesses in and around Southampton which will now be taken to TJ for recycling and generation of energy from waste.

The Hampshire-based waste management specialist was selected through a competitive tendering process which scored bidders on environmental performance, contract management, corporate-social responsibility and cost.

“The growth and success of our commercial services are underpinned by the suppliers we choose to partner with. TJ Waste & Recycling demonstrated through a competitive tender process that they aligned with our high standards to deliver an unbeatable service.”

We’re delighted to include TJ Waste, who are now delivering our commercial waste disposal services, in this list of partners. “Our vision is to create a cleaner, greener, healthier and more sustainable city. We have set ourselves ambitious, challenging goals to ensure that we all reduce our impact on the local environment. This new contract highlights that we are working with partners that share our vision, together we can ensure that Southampton is a better place for present and future generations.”
