10 reasons why we’re no. 1 on the south coast!

“We’re no. 1 on the south coast – TJ Waste!” Everyone is familiar with TJ’s radio jingle and once you’re heard it, it kind of sticks! But what was the thinking behind the ingenious slogan? Here we delve into the top 10 reasons why TJ made this bold statement…

1. Prioritising customer service

TJ’s number one goal has always been to prioritise customer service; ensuring that the client is satisfied with the service received is the most important thing of all. There are many strands that come together to create TJ’s outstanding customer experience – high quality services, great value for money, fast delivery of provision, good communication, friendly and efficient staff and no hassle!

TJ even has the Feefo Gold Service Award to back them up. This recognises businesses for delivering exceptional experiences, as rated by real customers. TJ met the award criteria of collecting at least 50 reviews between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018, with a Feefo service rating of between 4.5 and 5.0.

2. Range of services

TJ Waste and Transport offer a wide range of services between them. They can offer everything from skip and grab hire to commercial and event waste management, transport and haulage services, aggregate supply and sourcing. They even offer a bespoke service so if you have a requirement that is not listed on the website, they may be able to come up with a solution for you none-the-less.

3. Fantastic skip service

The skip hire service that TJ provides is second to none. Aside from being excellent value for money, TJ also offers the added incentive of being able to offer you an instant online quote and the promise of next day delivery should you need it. The skip delivery drivers are friendly and helpful and will position your skip in the requested position and ensure you are happy. You can choose the length of time you keep the skip for and then either book a collection time or get in touch with TJ when you’re done.

4. Versatile fleet of vehicles

TJ has a huge fleet of over 100 vehicles, everything from articulated vehicles to rigid tipper lorries, grab lorries, roll-on-roll-off lorries, skip lorries and 7.5 tonne box vans. These vehicles allow TJ to carry out a wide range of services for domestic and commercial customers alike, delivering exactly what the customer needs, when they need it.

5. Sourcing materials from our own quarries

TJ are the proud owners of two quarries in the Hampshire area: Hythe Quarry in Southampton and Butser Quarry in Petersfield, which allow TJ to quarry and supply their own materials directly to their customers.
Hythe Quarry is a sand and gravel quarry with ideal uses including bedding and drainage fill for the gravel and blinding, cattle bedding, general fill and mortar for the sand.

Butser Quarry produces rock chalk, which is a primary general fill aggregate. It is an ‘as crushed’ product that is most commonly used for capping, laid over terram to raise and level natural ground ready for a Type 1 sub base.

6. Range of aggregates on offer

In addition to the sand, gravel and rock chalk that TJ supply from their own quarries, they also source many other aggregates to meet their customers’ requirements. If the material you are after is not on the list, get in touch to see if it is something TJ can help you with.

7. Bespoke commercial waste management

TJ offers a range of waste management services and these can be tailored to suit your business and circumstances. TJ can help your business with weekly general waste, recycling waste and confidential waste collections or something more ad hoc to suit. TJ also offers one-off services for events or similar, whereby companies can employ TJ to take care of all the waste management requirements for an event, from the preparation, to caretaking during and the clean up after.

8. Partnering with the best

Over the years TJ has built up many partnerships with other businesses in the southern region and all over the country. Whether that be companies that TJ has partnered with to do business, bodies that they have liaised with to provide training and accreditation or organisations that TJ have provided free services to in the name of corporate social responsibility.

Examples of these partnerships include TJ’s work with ocean health community interest company The Final Straw Solent, working with Hampshire Police to resolve an issue with an unexploded WW2 bomb and partnering with Skanska UK to help maintain Hampshire’s highways.

9. Green focus

TJ are dedicated to recycling and all that involves. They are strong advocates of recycle, recycle, recycle and virtually none of the waste that TJ deals with ends up in landfill, with recycling, reuse and refuse-derived fuel being the favoured routes for waste. TJ has five materials recovery facilities in the area, where all the waste is taken to for sorting and onward recycling.

2019 has also seen TJ beginning to work with another local company to recycle certain types of plastics – namely ice-cream tubs – to make them into plastic pellets which can then be made into new products.

10. Accolades and accreditations

TJ holds many accolades and accreditations with the past 12 or so months being particularly successful. Top things of note include TJ continuing to hold FORS Silver Status, achieving the Feefo Gold Service Award, winning two BUILD Awards for Best Commercial Waste Management Company and Waste Management Technology Innovation Award and 100% of TJ’s drivers completing their CPC training.
