TJ assists with community garden refurb

TJ Waste has provided assistance to GoGreen and Vivid Homes, giving them a helping hand to complete a recent refurbishment of a local community garden.

The garden, which is attached to Millpond Community Room, a community centre in Gosport, was in need of attention. The owners of the garden, Vivid Homes, tasked GoGreen with getting the garden sorted. They, in turn, got in touch with us to request our help with sourcing materials and with skip hire.

We assisted GoGreen with sourcing the correct gravel for the project and then offered up two members of our own staff to help with the refurb over two days.

TJ Waste employees Luke Haskell and Richard Welch gave up their time to help the GoGreen team – which consisted of another team of two – with the makeover.

Luke, who is TJ Waste’s General Manager, said: “We were initially involved in helping to source the gravel, but when we discovered that it would just be two GoGreen team members coming down for a week to undertake the project themselves, myself and Richard volunteered our support. We went along on the Wednesday and Thursday and helped to spread the gravel, moved paving slabs, did some planting and built a bench. It was very enjoyable and great to be able to contribute to a worthwhile community project such as this.”

GoGreen’s Social Engagement Coordinator, Alexandra Curran said: “The sun was shining during our week in Gosport and I’m happy to say the project went very well. Thanks to Vivid for giving us the opportunity to be part of a great community project, and we’d also like to extend a big thank you to the superb support from our supplier, TJ Waste, who came to help us with the gravel and decorating the space.”
