Working in partnership with Chichester District Council

TJ Waste has formed a partnership with Chichester District Council to assist with a bagged waste collection service for the area’s domestic and commercial residents. The service, which was launched by the council in July, enables residents to purchase a Bulky Bag which they can fill with waste and then request a collection.

All collected bags are then brought to our Yapton Materials Recovery Facility for tipping. We thoroughly sort all the waste, segregating it into categories to ensure that as much as possible can be recycled and reused.

The Yapton facility is one of four that we have dotted along the south coast with two others in Portsmouth and another in Southampton. We’re dedicated to diverting as much waste as possible from landfill and endeavour to recycle up to 100% of the waste that we handle.

We’ve built up a network of recycling partners both in Hampshire and beyond, to ensure we can direct all waste down the correct route for its type. Any materials that cannot be reused or recycled are sent down the Energy from Waste (EfW) path wherever possible.

We process all materials in line with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocol. WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable, resource-efficient economy by re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products, re-thinking how we use and consume products, and re-defining what is possible through reuse and recycling.

The service provides a cost-effective and convenient waste removal solution for both homes and businesses. The bags are ideal for house clearances, garden waste, DIY waste and business waste. Residents request a collection once they’ve filled their bag and the collection will take place within five days of the request.

They come in three sizes. The medium bags measure 90cm x 90cm x 90cm, hold 1 cubic yard of waste and cost £150. The large bags measure 180cm x 90cm x 75ch, hold 1.5 cubic yards of waste and cost £175. The mega bags measure 244cm x 152cm x 100cm, hold 4 cubic yards of waste and cost £250.

This service is providing improved flexibility for those in the Chichester area, giving them an alternative option if they have waste to get rid of. It is ideal for those who are not able to transport the waste to their local Household Waste Recycling Centre easily and perhaps those who do not have enough waste to make a skip worthwhile.

It can be utilised by domestic and commercial residents alike, making it a convenient and versatile option. If you’d like to know more about the service, check out the council’s web page, paying particular attention to the FAQs and the tips to ensuring a successful collection.
