Company background

NHS Property Services is a government-owned organisation that exists to help the NHS get the most from its estate, and ensure that it is consistently fit for purpose, allowing healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care. Their work allows the boards, trusts and practices they work with to better assess, adapt and maintain their estates at every stage of its life.

The requirement

NHS Property Services required a regular waste management service to dispose of general waste and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). They researched the companies offering these services in the local area and went out to tender for the contract.

They were looking for a company that offered value for money, had a good reputation in the local area, and that would be reliable and consistent in their service delivery.

The solution

When the tender went out, TJ Waste responded swiftly and visited NHS Property Services’  site, demonstrating a keen interest in building a strong working relationship.

TJ won the contract and have now been delivering the services – a monthly general waste skip exchange and a regular WEEE collection service – for three months.

The skip exchange involves TJ removing the full skip from NHS Property Services’ site once a month and replacing it with an empty one, and the WEEE collection service is conducted on an ad-hoc basis via our Man and Van Service.

The outcome

Charlie McGee of NHS Property Services said: “I’d heard of TJ Waste through local knowledge and their excellent reputation in the Portsmouth area. So far the services have been delivered smoothly, but even if any issues did arise in the future, I have full confidence that TJ would resolve and overcome anything. A very efficient service by all involved at TJ Waste.”
