TJ donates skip to Northam Community Centre

TJ Waste donated a skip to a local community centre to assist them with a clearance project they were undertaking to free up space and get the centre back in good order.

Northam Community Centre in Southampton, which is run by local charity Northam Community Link, is a community hub of services that are utilised by many in the local area.

The Centre runs a number of community projects such as warm spaces and community cafes where free hot lunches and breakfasts are provided to those in need in the local area. They also host a community foodbank and act as a drop-in space for residents to get support with their health and getting back into work.

The Centre is also home to one of the only lasting youth clubs in Southampton, CityReach Youth Project, which benefits local children and young people from the age of 5 to 18 years. This work is funded by grants and donations and volunteers donating their time to the projects and the centre.

Centre Manager Danielle Eccleston said: “The community centre is 20 years old and over the years we accumulated lots of unwanted furniture and toys, equipment that is now broken and general waste, and we needed to dispose of these items to free up space to enable other projects to get underway.”

Danielle approached TJ Waste to ask if we’d be able to provide support in the form of a skip donation, which we were more than happy to provide. We delivered an 8 yard skip to the centre the following week, enabling them to dispose of all their unwanted waste in one go.

Danielle added: “We’d like to say a very big thank you to everyone at TJ Waste for the skip donation. Clearing out the space has already made a huge improvement and will make a big difference to how we can use the centre and its storage space. We really appreciate support from local businesses and organisations; this enables us to continue all the good work we do within the community.”

At TJ, our skip hire service is fast and flexible, offering deliveries as quickly as the next working day (subject to availability) and in sizes from 2 yard up to 12 yard as well as 17 and 35 yard commercial roll on roll off skips suitable for large commercial projects.

We also offer a Man and Van service for other types of waste removal including office recycling collections, confidential waste, site clearance and disposal of materials that are traditionally tricky to dispose of, such as mattresses, fridge freezers and POPs items (upholstered items such as sofas and dining chairs). We work in partnership with a range of third party organisations to dispose of these materials correctly and in the most sustainable way possible.
