Meet Simon Dewan, Transport Planner

The long Easter weekend is always a popular time for skip hire. For TJ, 2019 has been a bumper year, with 123 skip deliveries made on Thursday for use over the bank holiday weekend. Simon Dewan, Transport Planner, is instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of TJ’s skip hire enterprise.

All about Butser

Butser Quarry is known for its supply of rock chalk, but hadn’t been used for some years when TJ purchased it in 2017. TJ wanted to be able to supply their own aggregates to the construction industry and now with Butser Quarry fully operational, they are able to do so.

John joined TJ in 2017 after the acquisition of their two quarries – the Forest Lodge (Hythe) site and Butser Quarry in Petersfield. John has over 40 years’ experience in quarrying and landfill and brings a great deal of expertise and knowledge to the role.

TJ Waste & Recycling operates three materials recovery facilities across the south coast in Southampton, Portsmouth and Yapton. These are places that local businesses can take their waste to be sorted and wherever possible, recycled, in a bid to keep costs down and reduce our carbon footprint.

All about aggregates

In 2018 TJ sourced and delivered over 1.4 million tonnes of aggregates. Aggregates are granular materials used in construction such as sand, gravel, crushed rock or recycled and manufactured.
