Recycled Office Solutions

Recycled Office Solutions (ROS) has partnered with TJ Waste since 2019. TJ provides skip hire services to run alongside the ROS office clearance service. When ROS reached out and asked for assistance with a large, London-based office clearance, TJ was more than happy to help…

Client background:

Recycled Office Solutions is a Hampshire-based company working with businesses across the UK and channel islands. Founded in 2019, the company has grown quickly, guided by a customer-centred, environmentally friendly approach to business. They have evolved from a local clearance company to offering national office clearance and relocation services.

ROS is 100% committed to recycling and reusing. They’re dedicated to offering the most ethical office clearance possible. They repair broken furniture and equipment where possible so it can be resold. They recycle electrical items in accordance with WEEE regulations and aim to reuse 95% of the items cleared, dramatically reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

ROS recognise the importance of corporate social responsibility to our employees, customers, suppliers and the wider community. So any items that cannot be reused in the UK will be shipped to ROS’s business partner, Wonder Years Centre of Excellence (WYCE Gambia NGO A78) located in The Gambia, where there is great demand for good quality used office furniture and equipment.

Working in partnership:

ROS has been using TJ Waste’s skip hire and third party tipping services since their inception in 2019. They knew of TJ and liked the fact that we are a like-minded business, looking to divert as much waste as possible from landfill.

TJ endeavours to recycle up to 100% of the waste we handle. We have established recycling routes for a wide range of materials from the standard card, paper, metal and plastic bottles, to the more tricky materials such as WEEE, rubble, hard plastics, fridge freezers and mattresses. We’re always working behind the scenes to find new ways to recycle the materials that have proved difficult in the past. Any materials that cannot be reused or recycled are directed down the Energy from Waste (EfW) path wherever possible.

We process all materials in line with WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) protocol. WRAP’s mission is to accelerate the move to a sustainable, resource-efficient economy by re-inventing how we design, produce and sell products, re-thinking how we use and consume products, and re-defining what is possible through reuse and recycling.

The job:

Recycled Office Solutions was awarded a large job in London, clearing out one of the city’s most iconic office buildings located in South Bank. The job entailed clearing 217,429 sq ft of office space ensuring everything is repurposed in the best possible way. Any items or materials that could be reused were broken down and recycled or utilised for Energy from Waste (EfW).

After securing the job, ROS immediately reached out to TJ for assistance, even though it was London-based. TJ was happy to assist, immediately booking in the job and delivering the first skip on time, as requested.

Over the course of a month, we delivered two 35-yard, roll-on-roll-off skips to the central London site, removing the full skips when requested. We took the waste back to our Portsmouth-based Materials Recovery Facility for sorting and onward recycling. Any items that were not able to be recycled were directed down the EfW route as planned.

TJ Waste General Manager Luke Haskell said: “We are very flexible and will always go above and beyond for our customers. We’ve worked with Recycled Office Solutions for three years and they have a very similar ethos to us, which is encouraging. When they asked us to quote for this job, we were keen to assist and I’m pleased to report that everything went smoothly and the job was completed as planned.”

The outcome:

Recycled Office Solutions Managing Director, Grant Kennedy said: “As a business we pride ourselves as being an ethical clearance and relocation company for socially conscious companies. Hence we have worked in partnership with TJ since we started and we trust them to dispose of our waste in the most sustainable way possible. Although the job was well outside of the Hampshire area, they were keen to assist and delivered a great service as we knew they would. Everything was delivered on time and the full skips were removed when requested, ensuring the job remained on schedule.”
