Skip hire: TJ selected for high quality service

BACKGROUND

Pete and his wife have undertaken several house renovation projects over the last few years to raise a bit of capital for their dream house project, which they have recently purchased and commenced. Pete’s wife Cara is a carpenter by trade and together they have spent several years improving the two houses they purchased – one in Fareham and one in Clanfield – for resale. House renovation is a messy business and this led Pete to employing TJ’s services to supply skips as his waste removal solution.

Pete said: “When we realised that a skip would be the best solution for our waste disposal needs, I immediately thought of TJ; although I hadn’t used them before, I knew the name and their reputation preceded them.”

THE REQUIREMENT

Pete has undertaken two renovation projects on two separate houses, both involving full refurbishment works inside and out. This included revamping the lounges, replacing some floorboards and restoring others, installing new ceilings, fitting new kitchens and bathrooms, boarding out lofts and improving the gardens and driveways. Both projects generated a great deal of waste, which was stored in the garden/driveway until the end of the projects. Waste types included carpets, wood, rubble, soil and green waste.

Pete wanted to get the projects finished before removing the waste so that it could be done all in one go and it would be clear what size skip would be needed.

THE SOLUTION

After weighing up the pros and cons of skip hire versus grab hire, Pete decided to go for a skip. For both projects he opted for TJ’s 12 yard skip, which can hold 10.2 cubic meters of waste or the equivalent of 120 bin bags’ worth. In both cases, this was sufficient to hold the entire renovation’s worth of waste, including garden material. For the Clanfield project, the skip was placed directly in front of where the waste was being stored so it was extremely easy to transfer the waste in.

THE CHALLENGE

For the Fareham project, access was a bit of an issue as the house was on a main road. However, TJ’s driver handled the drop off and collection quickly and efficiently to ensure that there was minimal disruption to traffic and that the skip was perfectly positioned on the small driveway.

THE OUTCOME

Pete was thrilled with the TJ experience from start to finish. After deciding to book a skip, he went onto their website and received a quote within minutes. It meant that he had all the information he needed to make his decision very quickly. Pete felt well looked after throughout the process, from the confirmation email to the smooth service supplied from the drivers.

He booked the skip for the dates he wanted and because he was able to fill it in a weekend, he benefited from the 5% discount that TJ offer customers who have the skip collected within four days. Pete was pleased that both skips were able to be delivered and collected quickly and on time as that meant the waste was quickly out of the way.

When the skip was delivered for the Clanfield project, the driver suggested placing it in a position that would enable a car to be parked behind it, preserving valuable parking space as well as ensuring that there was no access to the skip from the road, preventing anyone passing from dumping their own unwanted items.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT TJ:

“I like the fact that they always have plenty of availability and are able to provide skips as quick as the next working day. The price was competitive but the quality of service was what made us choose TJ and go back to them a second time. When you have a need for a skip, you want it quickly and when you need it – these are two things that TJ can pretty much guarantee. We’ll definitely be using TJ’s services again next year when we reach the end of the first stage of renovations with our new property in Buriton.” Pete
